SO, legit...
I'm watching Law & Order while writing response paper 3, regarding genre... Soon later my Fiancee' walks-in and we proceed to get in an argument over the fact that he is sick of watching the same shows all the time...
This happens regularly...
(not the fighting, just the particular lil' tiff ' about the "damn TV")
So here's my inquiry - can we deprogram our taste in T.V.?
'Cause I don't know about you but I CANNOT STAND 99% of reality T.V. (mostly the game show aspect...except good 'ol Bob Barker...BOB IS THE MAN!) anyway... I wonder why we chose what we do...
I like crime shows, so either I'm destined to commit them, or prevent them right?
OR WRONG???
I was just curious about what everyone else thinks about the particular shows they gravitate to and if they seem to follow that theme in their life...
PS - I know I love law/crime shows,
I wanna be a corporate attorney,
and Mark loves sports
and wants to be a sports writer
...but are we just the
exception to the rule or the stereotype
to keep a stigma alive?

i know what you mean, i don't understand where the hell all these reality shows originated from. It seems that society likes to see conflict between individuals in a real life situation. I Do have a question, i notice that these shows always have people showing emotion, whether it be anger or sadness. Is this emotion more for the viewers satisfaction, so it is hyped out more than it should be so people will watch reality tv.
In terms of a career later in life I am still at square one on deciding what I want to do. So maybe my indecision is portrayed in my large range of show that I gravitate towards. I love CSI (just the original, I think that I've made my opinions of David Caruso in CSI: Miami pretty well known. However, I also take a very guilty pleasure in the CW's shows like America's Next Top Model, and One Tree Hill. None of these shows really reflect what I plan on for my future, but I think that I'm interested on television on a whole. Maybe my future is in television. I'm rambling, and maybe making a little bit of sense
Side Note: Bob Barker is barely alive. I often wonder where the strings holding him up are. (see Dane Cook)
I do tend to enjoy a reality tv show once in a while. Why? Because most of them are so unrealistic it is fun to watch these people portrayals or "real life" I love big brother. I also am a big 24, heroes, one tree hill, and las vegas fan. But that is about all for me. I don't watch a lot of tv.
Here's my postsecret.com moment: I'm a media studies prof who has gone for years without cable or satellite tv. But I'm working through the first disc of the BBC documentary series this week, and surfed way too many KISS-related youtube clips Monday night, so I still get my TV in...albeit in controlled bursts.
Reality TV makes sense for networks on a number of industrial levels (low production costs, no stars, cross-demographic aggregation, etc....). It's a fascinating topic....
BTW, really like the look of your fonts and such, Rachel! You appear wise to the ways of HTML....
