The White-lab-coat posse...
During discussion today in class it suddenly occurred to me the importance of the image I portray at my job. My boss is always saying to me that "...we must wear our lab coats, we're the 3rd most recognized uniform in the WORLD!!!" (yada yada yada) However today when we talked about how media can influence who we are as both producers and consumers it really hit me. I represent Clinique, the number 1 selling cosmetic company in the world. I tell people what my job is as a part of me. I am a piece of this major make-up machine. I use all the products too, so I'm buying into the whole image I'm being payed a whopping $8.35 an hour to portray! (plus 3% commission... pfft) Anyway my point is that I am the prime example of the need for "Media Literacy" as Prof. I. calls it. My company, and my face-cream are plastered in every she-she magazine around the world; media friendly is now going on my next resume.

You are where you work....or at least I think we really want our work to reflect and bring out the best in us. Maybe that's too tall an order, but the optomist (idealist?) in me is drawn to that idea.
Thanks for the "media literacy" shout-out....Think of this blog assignment as our white lab coats for 220 this summer.....
